ODNR Well Summary says gas/ONDR Map says dry hole oil show

For the Creamer Well, Warren twp, Jefferson county, OH the ODNR div of oil/gas resources management has some information I'm finding hard to decipher.

 As the discussion title says the Well Summary lists the Berea Sandstone, Marcellus Shale, Queenston Formation and the Utica Shale as having GAS, but the Map shows the symbols for DRY HOLE WITH OIL SHOW. How do these two different results make sense? Any help explaining this would be appreciated.

The Creamer well has two drilling permits.  One for the vertical and one for the horizontial.  The show of gas was found in the vertical.   If there is any production, it will come from the horizontial section.  The definition of a dry hole is "a well that is drilled but does not produce oil or gas in commercially worthwhile amounts"  The permit for the horizontial leg of the Creamer Well is into the Black River formation which is below the Trenton.

That's where CHK might hope to find production.

I'm not a geologist, but I would think that CHK logging gas in four formations on the way down to the Trenton-Black River formation to run their horizontial is a good indication that they found a good location to drill.  You will have to wait for any results they may report, if it is a good well.
