Processing Plant Concerns

Does anyone have any info on processing plant concerns?  What are the pros and cons about a processing plant near your home?  What are the risks?  Health concerns?  Noise? Pollution?  Does anyone live near one of these?  Will this decrease property values?  Thanks for any info that any of you may have.

What type of "processing plant"?
