Many on this site think that only the Marcellus Shale lies below them, when in fact there are many  formations that go all the way to China. Don't shoot yourself in the foot by leasing all depths below you when these companies are only looking at Marcellus. Google Carlos Marcellus and you will find that he was a simple fruit stand owner in New Orleans but it turned out that he was much more.

Oriskany is a sandstone that has been devloped by conventional methods for years and while deeper is nothing new. The shakle formations are the new interest. Limit your lease to the Marcellus between the Tully Limestone to the Onondaga and you will presrve any bfuture shale play shallow or deep. The Utica, which is deeper, is as broad if not bigger than the Marcellus and may be the next big play. A few gas companies have drilled the Utica but havent spilled the beans on production .
