How are royalties figured...

I have heard from people in areas that are getting royalties already that some are getting $300-400 or more per acre for royalties. I know the leases my family has says we get a % of royalties...so I'm trying to figure out how this works out.

Let's say your royalties are 18% net. Do you get 18% off the $300-400 per acre people are getting or is the per acre amount already calculated with the %? I'm just trying to get a better understanding on how this all works.

Buyer Beware.

We have bought into "their" game by signing leases.  They have been through this cycle many many times before during the past 150 years.

We can change that, Darlene.  People need to work together to demand accountability. Solidarity works.  Just being open, honest, and sharing with others should create a sense of urgency in others for things that need addressed.

Once 10,000 people go to the state capital and protest for a day, I guarantee you it will get attention.

On the other hand we need to consider the needs of the energy companies.  They are doing an important task of bringing energy production to our country.

Our problems do very much need attention, but for worthwhile, lasting solutions, we need input from everyone.

Do Darlene and Sally actually have leased or leasable land? Producing wells so that they actually have some knowledge of the royalty process? Or are they just anti-frackers jealous of other peoples good fortune?

And anyone that signs without a lawyer is being penny wise pound foolish and generally just plain foolish.

I am not against tracking I am for doing it RIGHT!   Point being, I rented my homes to Oklahomans who could find no home less than 3000. Dollars a month.   I did not kick out My devoted tenants to jack up  prices on innocent Americans to make a buck Mr. Droske and I have names to back up my integrity!  These gases are great people that are being blamed and it is not their fault. These people know about the geysers where I live!

  It is the fault of our Greedy Lying Politicians that bow to the gas Companies!  Oh I am jealous of you Mr Droske cause you must be making lots of money and rich enough to get a lawyer!  Most of these people could barely pay their taxes!

I find the people that voted for this Moron and. Used racism as a way to use against people whom disagreed with it from the start Pain foolish sir!  I do not plan on holding these people responsible for this mess or blame them for the mess now! You see they must be just as foolish as the ones that bought into the promise our President!!  I do not find either foolish I find them as hard working Americans  whom are under so much stress caused by our government hoping that for once someone is going own up and do the right thing !  I do not find that foolish sir!

You ARE right in the fact that 'you are not foolish' - MANY of 'US(A) are of 'like mind'...there IS a bigger brush stroke at work here. Be calm - keep your head about you when all are loosing theirs and blaming it on you (the 'lawyer bit' just don't cut it...). There's no just NO 'fair ball' play on THIS field. Never was.

In the O/G field there is the 'little landowner' & the BIG BAT of the company play...you're right: PEOPLE (read *landowners*) didn't (repeat DID NOT!) know just what they were getting into 'signing' with the 'company store'.... THEY knew/KNOW that. Why do you think Mercer Co. Pa is so 'hush hush' now?...Cat's outta' their bag. They've got plenty of other 'playing fields' to bat about...

YOU DON'T 'matter'...you are just a 'number', a score...and even though we ARE living IN America, we are involved in an industry that NOW NEEDS to 'deal with the LITTLE GUY' to get *WHAT THEY WANT*. Hey, don't feel bad...'people' say get an attorney - heck, half the attorney's don't know exactly WHAT is going on in 'the game' of these leases either. SURE - they've been a bit involved for a little while now...but how much you gonna' risk gettin' it all buttoned up tight?

We ALL want the best, no shame in that. The G/O Co.'s 'brick & mortar' IS *your land. THAT IS their 'plant' - it is a 'movable plant'...going from place to place & hopin' to strike 'er rich themselves (oh, yes - and of COURSE - for little, ole' you!)...OK, no problem.

Good idea.  Had you done that last year at this time your currency would have only lost about 25% of its value.
