James,
I am not in the industry, but a simple farmer trying to come to terms with reality I find myself in. My father was an attorney and lobbyist for the Ohio coal industry, representing those interests in both Columbus and Washington. Were I to name him you would know him, but to protect my anonymity I shall leave my father nameless. Like you, he acquired interests in several wells and mineral reservations. However, he suffers from Parkinson-related dementia and failed to tell our family how extensive those interests were. To protect our family's interests, it was forced upon me to educate myself about this industry and untangle the various threads he had woven. What began as a necessity has now become a passion such that, to paraphrase once again our county's newest resident, the Utica is the greatest thing to happen to me since the invention of the plow.
Hi Arminius, I enjoy reading your replies, very informative and enlightening... GO UTICA! Like you, the Utica has been a great blessing to me and my family. It gives me great satisfaction to participate in this "boom" and help to lessen our dependence on foreign oil, not to mention reaping the financial harvest of pipe line ROWs while we wait on inclusion into a pooled drilling unit. Have you heard what the average estimated payment per acre per month is coming out of the Utica?
Lance,
Thanks for the compliment. I have not heard of any numbers from anyone in a unit to give you any kind of a figure. There are so many variables that it would be difficult to come up with a figure. There is a poster named Invictus who is attempting to come up with such a figure. I am letting the mineral rights buyers serve as a proxy for the value of these acres: There is so much capital, so much smart capital, entering into this area to purchase rights that I would have to think the per/acre yield must be very high. Accordingly, the per/acre number to purchase these rights will continue to rise.

James, arminus,
I got this off the internet and it shows production numbers of the current EQT wells to date. If you review the results with other wells on oil alone they seem to compare with some of Cheaspeaks wells in Carroll County?
Bill
More & More people are reporting offers to buy their mineral rights in Cambridge Twp. Wat-up?
Bo,
What kinds of offers for mineral rights in Cambridge Township are you hearing?
$8900. to $10,000. for 20% royalty leases. east of I-77
I live western Harrison and we saw this last year as drilling started to increase in the area. Got like 2 letters a week, have now died back to 1 month or less. Think they hope to get people who have waited a while and are not patient. The price goes up with time look at Belmont offers.
Are you talking about leasing or selling prices? The highest lease price of heard of is 6300 per acre and 21%. These pipelines that must go in are paying pretty good too I heard. Guernsey will be real busy real soon....

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
