The anti shale development crowd, including the local chapter of the Sierra Club, have been making a big deal out of memo written by one person within the ODNR. These groups have insinuated that somehow this was clandestine and the stuff of secret agents. The reason few people ever knew about it was that it was canned, sent to the round file.

So let's talk about secrecy; ever wondered how some of the extreme environmental groups are funded ? It's called "dark money" talk about secrecy. To better explain this I have posted a blog item from Thomas Shepstone who regularly posts a blog on this site.

From the linked article:

"[Opposition is] driven by the same handful of the super-rich, operating under different names and facades, manipulating things (and all of us) in a vain attempt to create a perfect world…for themselves."

Oooooh!  What fodder for conspiracy theorists!  Those wealthy whacko environmentalists and their super-super-rich secret society backers!  Ooooh!  Be VERY afraid!

C'mon.  No one can take any of that seriously.  The day the oil lobby could be dwarfed by environmental groups is the day my Cleveland Indians make the New York Yankees look like paupers.  And that ain't happening anytime soon.

T,

As usual you missed the point.

Mark,

The know it alls usually do.  In fact the rich manipulators count on it.

More likely that as usual, T ignores the point because he doesn't want to comprehend the facts.

the way that the oil lobby and any other conservative lobby is dwarfed is because the federal government is infested with liberals. dug in like an Alabama tick. state dept. justice dept. all of em.

The tobacco industry thought the same thing.

Kasich doesn't support producing oil from state parks because he's afraid the anti's will use it to damage his chances for a political future.  Heaven forbid that he reduce the state deficit with income from g&o production from UNDER state lands instead of by forcing county and township government and schools to raise taxes locally to make up for the money he stopped sending them.  I won't say all politicians lie but you're right Utica-Kasich's stance is no different from Hagan's.  I dislike the guy but at least with Hagan you know where he stands.
