What state and county are you referring to?  I assume it is Ohio since you use the term section.

Yes Ohio, in fact Monroe County--I assumed this forum was for Monroe County.

This is actually the main discussion area,  However, the answer to your question is no horizontal Marcellus or Utica wells are producing in Jackson TWP and none are permitted.   There is however a vertical Marcellus well in Section 28 drilled by Beck Energy.  It began producing in 2010 and according to the ODNR records it has 87 feet of Marcellus shale.   The well is called the Beaver well.

IMHO three factors are hindering drilling progress in Jackson:   Wayne National Forest owns a number of acres which will involve the Bureau of Land Management getting involved;   lack of pipelines;   and Beck Energy/Exxon XTO have leases in Jackson and many of their leases in other parts of the county are currently in legal cases.

Searcerone  how big a factor do you think the national forest issue is for a landowner in that township but land isn't in national forest.

I was told by one company that it was concerning to them but I do not know if they are just using it as a tactic to keep their offer low  and convince landowners to sign.

I was also told that there was a prospective unit drawn out  in Jackson township
