Sharon-- What you must be referring to is CNOOC's joint venture with Chesapeake in the Eagle Ford Shale down in Texas. There seems to be a lot of interest in that play because of all the natural gas liquids (NGLs) found in the gas there. It's more valuable under current market conditions. The Chinese government is holding a lot of dollars right now accumulated in foreign trade with us. CNOOC is a state-owned company. From what I understand, China has been making deals for natural resources like this around the world. It's not just natural gas and NGLs--gold, rare earths, etc. Unless I missed something, I don't see Chesapeake's joint venture with this state-owned company as having any impact on the Marcellus shale and Pennsylvania or West Virginia.
Pardon me if I thought you were talking about environmental concerns of drilling. Many people are. I'm not sure exactly how I feel about state-owned companies like CNOOC buying up our resources like this. Where did they get all the $$'s to do it? I'll probably contemplate that next time I'm in the checkout lane at Walmart. --Tom
Hi Sharon,
i was just reading your reply to tom about cnooc. Share??? if you want change policy's so foreign companys can not buy in to us shale gas. you need to discuss it with your senator, congress or the president otherwise nothing will change
Hi Sharon,
thanks for your reply but you did not anwser the question
The name is dan
and i asked the question first you and you cant anwser it so why bother trying to have a discussion with you. i know exactly how much china, norway, japan, canada, ect owns. you dont know how a discussion works
She wouldn't answer my question either Dan,.......because she is simply on here to cause problems because she is upset that she doesn't have a part in all of this. Don't you just love it when people who aren't involved get so jealous that they have to bring everyone else down!!?!
I wonder if she speaks out about how our government sells our debt to China? I can only imagine how she votes!

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
