A land man who is representing the oil and gas industry is asking to buy our farm. He stated that they would like a 140 acre tract. Also they are not wanting to buy the minerals. He would not tell us who the buyers are or what their interests are. Has anyone else been approached and does anyone know what is going on. We are located in Ellsworth district of Tyler County, WV.

Jason, Thanks for your information. Our farm is not for sale! This fellow just showed up an said we want to buy your property!! He would not give us any information as to what they wanted it for or what oil company he was working for. We are 1 mile from the Stewart Winland pad. We are just trying to find out what is going on. Thanks.

I'm in Beaver County, Pa. But I know the Markwest facility in Houston PA is probably 100+ acres that seperatw the wet gases. I also know Mark West bought that property at the very beginning of the new gas rush back in 08 for Washington County PA. There was maybe a dozen wells drilled at the time - just a guess.
It's also located right next to the RR.

Google earth the area - it's on PA 519 in Houston.

Best of luck to you all and tell your neighbors about this website to share information.
Jason

Ellen, This is very interesting. Please share more information when you can ?   God Bless, Nancy

Your farm is not for sale?!

I don't mean to sound rude, but don't be stupid.  If they are going to offer you 5X or 10X the value, you would be doing yourself and your family a huge disservice.

You did sound rude.  Some people will never understand the value of another's land.  There is a story that goes with every parcel and sometimes no amount of legal tender will compensate the legacy that is a farm.  To opine about this doing a disservice to someone elses family is only a disservice to yourself.

We all understand there is a selling price for almost everything. And there comes a point in time where two fools meet. But they did not offer 5X or 10X the value of our farm. The land man has been to several other farm owner in our area also. We were just curious if any one out there knew what was going on!!

Sorry I started the selling thing ellen. But what I said about the lack of infrastructure is my bet why they are shopping land. I'm sure they know it only gets more expensive if they keep hitting nice wells and so far it looks on the up and up. I was in the northwest corner of monroe which has huge wet gas wells. With the wet comes alot of infrastructure. And some of those separating factories are huge. They Wil need land...I hope

My property has been a hunting camp for years. I have 30 plus years of memories which is tough to put a value on. My greatest fear is the build on of those adjacent to my land. I have to live with it and get nothing. It's a tough on to weigh. I did notice this year that the sounds of silence have been silenced. You used to hear nothing and now you hear a low roar of machinery in the distance. That was something I enjoyed and lost. What is next.
My greatest fear is they build one of those. Sorry stupid spell check
For some reason spell check puts on for one. There are several of those mistakes in my post. Sorry

So someone from a gas company wanted to buy your property and you demanded to know why?!?  For the life of me I don't know why it's any of the seller's business.  If you go to the store to buy a gallon of milk and the cashier  asks you a million questions about the reason for buying milk, how would that make you feel?  Just so you know when you mess with a company - they mess back.   Don't be surprised if they build something extremely unsightly, unpleasant and noisy right up to your property line.

Obviously, they want to build an enormous plant in the area which is going to be needed somewhere if you want to see your royalties that you were born into.  Unlike myself, who started from the bottom with about $20 to my name.  Man, do I wish my family worked their asses off for generations so I can have everything handed to me on a silver platter so I can then turn around and give the oil and gas companies a hard time about making my silver spoon rich @$$ richer.

Ellen please excuse this person and don't pay any attention to him. It's your property and you can do whatever you want with it.Just like this site we are a part of it and we can ask all and any questions we like and people will help to the best of their knowledge in most cases. But this person obviously must need negative attention let's not give him any maybe he will go away. And Ellen Thank You for sharing your information God Bless.

Brad, Thank  you!
