Just a little info for our readers. The stakes are in the ground and a compressor station is coming! The spot is between Irondale and Monrowville, on county road 55. the compressor station will go in a small lot just off of cr 55. I'm not sure where it came from or where it is going.

This is actually the Spectra Energy Partners Texas Eastern Transmission LP Ohio Pipeline Energy Network Project (OPEN).
They must really want this pipeline. They don't even have the EPA approval yet.
If you search the GMS web site you will find more info on the pipeline.
The pipeline originates at the UEO Kensington plant and ends in Monroe county.
As far at the route the pipeline will take:
According to the Map supplied by Spectra with their application the proposed pipeline would start in Kensington Ohio (Hanover Township, Columbiana County) and head south down into Franklin Township, Columbiana County. In Franklin Township there is a proposed Pipeline Tap Valve. Presumably this might be for a connection to one or more of the four (4) Tennessee Gas Transmission lines passing through the township or for a connection to the Columbia Gas (NiSource) network of pipelines.
Continuing south from Franklin Township the pipeline passes into Washington Township and then crosses into Jefferson County.
Crossing into Jefferson County, the first stop is Brush Creek Township. In Brush Creek Township there is a Proposed M & R Station (Metering and Regulating Station) and a Mainline Valve just to the south of the M & R Station, based on the map submitted by Spectra. Continuing south from Brush Creek Township we cross into Ross Township where there is another proposed Pipeline Tap Valve. Again moving southward we cross from Ross Township into Salem Township, Jefferson County. In Salem Township there is another Proposed M & R Station (Metering and Regulating Station). From there, continuing in a southerly direction, we move into Wayne Township, Jefferson County, where there is another proposed Mainline Valve. The next township directly below Wayne is Smithfield Township where we have another proposed Pipeline Tap Valve. Heading further south we pass through Mount Pleasant Township, Jefferson County, and then cross into Belmont County.
Crossing into Belmont County, this portion of the Proposed Pipeline starts out in Colerain Township, where a Compressor Station is proposed for this pipeline, based on the map submitted by Spectra Energy Partners Texas Eastern Transmission LP. This would have it cross the Little Short Creek.
After leaving Colerain Township, based on the map submitted by Spectra, the pipeline heads south into Richland Township, just east of Saint Clairsville, continues south into Mead Township, York Township where there is another proposed Mainline Valve, and then crosses into Monroe County.
With the final leg of the route passing through Section 30, Switzerland Township, Monroe County, acreage held by East Ohio Gas, and ending in what appears to be Section 29, Switzerland Township, Monroe County, on acreage held by PVR Utica Gas Gathering LLC and Dominion Transmission Inc & Jeff Hicks, where it is proposed that a Regulator Station, and final connection to the transmission lines heading to the East Coast, would be created.
Thanks for the info, I'll tell my neighbor who leased his land to them about this.
Just found out I was mistaken about the pipeline's permit status.
The Ohio EPA is a little slow in letting people know what they have decided. Came in today's mail.
On January 21, 2015, the Ohio EPA granted "Intermediate Approval 401 Wetlands", permit # DSW401134297, to the Ohio Pipeline Energy Network (OPEN) Project.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
