These are the worse bills yet against mineral and property owners.  Need to contact your state representatives now to oppose HB4639 and SB646 as they are on first reading today and third reading this Wed.

These bills:

  • Take away ability of land & mineral owners to sue for damages
  • Force mineral owners to sue leaseholders for any payments for their minerals
  • Eliminate ability to negotiate depth of drilling or target formations in leases
  • Eliminate any surface protections for landowners

Is it preferable to write a letter or call?  I did write a letter this morning

Phone calls or email would be best as these bills are on fast tract.  All of the House Judiciary Committee need called and leave your message.

Just told that SB 646 is moving faster.  So Senators need contacted right away.

Actually, I did write an email, not a hard copy letter....

Great!  Thank you, Leo.

The WV Senate Judiciary members need to be called and emailed to oppose SB 646.  Same reasons as stated for HB 4639.

Thanks to all you calling and emailing.  This is a huge help.  Want to keep those phone messages and emails piling up.

When everyone is done calling legislators, don't ease up.  Start flooding newspapers, radio stations and TV outlets with calls and emails.  Make sure all of your friends and neighbors are doing the same.

Portions of the 1st, 4th, and 14th amendments of the US Constitution are being violated in my opinion if this bill passes, have talked to a couple of attorneys. Pooling under current statue is an open pocket of gas or oil in the strata with sufficient pressure to free flow. My wife and I have contacted every state Senator and Represenative by email, the only Republican that contacted us was Mr. Statler from the 51st district, he seen no problem with the bill, many land and mineral owners are meeting in the Rotunda Wednesday morning. Our contact was done the first day the bill was submitted. With Woody's connection with Antero Resources, I think contacting a US Attorney might be in order to see if any RICO statues may be violated, follow the money trail!!

Sorry folks, 7th amendment, not the 4th.
