By my reckoning, when zero bidders materialize to bid on assets but the creditors, that means the company was sabotaged by the rubes running the company, both intentionally and unintentionally (spelled business incompetence), by loading the balance sheet with too much debt.

Maybe Alpha should have purchased more Rice stock.

When will that artifice be examined?  Probably never. 

The human lives that got destroyed by mismanagement--those people have neither money nor power and nobody cares about them, least of all the government that taxes them to protect them. 

The government has been compromised by the coal industry and both republicans and democrats with careers to worry about.
