Thinking of the future when perhaps we (the USA) have used or sold all of our natural gas and oil and Asia still has theirs - who will be in the driver's seat then ?
 
How will that suit our future generations ?
 
Shouldn't we be thinking about that ?
 
Shouldn't our leadership (in business and government) be thinking about that ?
 
Are they ?
 
How about thinking of ways to rebuild our domestic economy instead of chasing the quick buck to be found by selling our natural resources to foreign states ?
 
Instead how about a paradigm shift to natural gas (from gasoline and diesel) for fueling our power plants, domestic transportation and freight via rail, air, over the road and marine ?
 
Hang onto our resources and use them here at home.
 
I believe they are of strategic importance over the long term.

Yes, Joseph-Ohio, we SHOULD INDEED be 'thinking about that'...we've gotten TOO 'content'. We have 'conviently' sacrificed our future' on the 'alter of the present'...and there is ALWAYS a 'piper' to pay...I never, for the life of me - could ever figure out HOW we could get 'comfortable' with things the way they are AFTER WWII in the ways we did. It's the CLASSIC 'follow the $$$' deal', isn't it?

WHY? because we are on our own 'island' & too 'cozy-comfortable'...and YES - we SHOULD be 'thinking about that'. But what SHOULD be done & what IS done are often unfortunealty MILES apart.

I never thought I'd see the day when one would need a 'passport' to go in & out of - EVER. THERE in & of itself is EXACTLY the kind of example of, "I never thought THAT would happen." Journey into China: National Geographic Society (U. S.): 9780870444... - read this book, and then we'll talk. Yes, it was written not too long ago, but it DOES offer insight that YOU (as an American) just 'don't get -OR- understand'...the other book to read is The Soong Dynasty - The furst full behind-the-scenes account of the.... These ywo books will give you better 'insight' into the 'how's, what's, why's' on the 'thought' as far as this area of the world goes...it is NOT (I repeat NOT!) like we have 'here'....

Aren't you all a little bit worried about this 'wildcard'? His dad died in what, Dec.? He young. He needs to be seen by his people as well as 'military leaders' are 'able to act. His dad 'postured' - he 'knew that game & played the game'...but this kid. I just don't know...

Russia & China are 'there'...this putz could be their 'pawn' to just then blame & trash. I don't know about you - but it's not wise to ever take lightly ANY threat - ever. Especially one like what they're thinking. I, for one, am quite bothered as to how I read this is being taken.

Like I said before - it only takes once. I pray we never see that kind of insanity. I love our country. There is nothing like US anywhere in the world. Not anywhere!!! Sure, there are 'nice places', but I wouldn't want to 'live there'.

Yeah - it's tough...I mean WHAT do you do with this? I guess the 'sit tight, wait & see'(?)...a little bit like with the G&O Co.'s? They're like PITBULLS, eh - those G&O guys...swarm of locusts.... It's not that 'they' are bad or wrong overall...I think it's more HOW things have been done = is the agitation.

PITBULLS - like in Jack London's White Fang, was it? The story I'm recalling is when there was the 'dogfight' between the 'wolf' & the pitbull (may have been a different dog - doesn't matter...teeth are teeth....). 

The other dog - once it got 'attached to the neck'...BITE-TIGHT! It just grabbed on & just HUNG ON tight.... THEN - 'slowly & steadily' (KEY - *STEADILY) kept taking more & more flesh, until the JUGULAR was seized...usually ended up in death to the other dog... So WHERE are WE?

only 'JUGHEADS' talk so 'whimsically' about - about 'how THEY are investing in us(?)!...well, 'THEY' (being India, China - WHOMEVER 'has the money - FLASHES THE CASH'...?!) are such 'good & noble INVESTORS in AMERICAN 'infrastructure'....WHAT? Get your head outta' the sand!!!

YES - I use the word 'INFRASTRUCTURE', because you have only so many 'walls, foundations, 'headers', rooflines' to your 'house. And the walls came tumbling down...WHAT is wrong with these kids - no one takes your power from you - you 'give it away' (or sell it down the river...). Once you 'sell it all OFF'...what are you going to REPLACE IT with???!!!

I agree but......the only problem with that (it seems to me) is that the 'rest of the world' ultimately / always looks to the U.S.A. to solve their problems.  Then our leadership throws us (U.S. Citizenry) under 'the rest of the world's' bus.

That bent on behalf of our leadership has to change if you ask me.

WELL, Dan...China's rogue step-child...hmmm. HOW do you know that it is seen as a 'step-child' OR just a 'step' to get positioned for OUR LAND? They are not a 'Russia'...but many [people have forgotten all about that. Russia was the other 'heavy weight' in the other corner of the world's rounds. NOW this 'little barking yippie-dog' is yapping...yap-yap-yap. They don't have anything to loose - if they get blown to smithereens...just another ink spot on the map of history. 

Interesting - Chinese learn Russian at school, so I've heard...and Russia is not (are they?) - don't know quite what Russia is & is not these days...but I do know - that no matter what gets said...they will always see us as the 'other'.

Rogue step-child...even 'mothers & fathers' dote on their 'rouge step-children'...who has the military warheads? - REussia...and THEY were behind China...Journey into China: National Geographic Society (U. S.): 9780870444......I'm serious, read this! - National Geographic...and simply eye-opening.... They, being China, were still quite a 'closed door' society until NOT that long ago. Do you really think that dragon has changed it's 'stripes' for spots? Don't be a fool...please.

You're right - the 'rouge step-child' needs a spank, but it's not comin' from 'mamma or pappa'...and I hope that he doesn't like throwing raw eggs - ker'splat! UGH! open your eyes....
