I know CHK and Statoil joint ventured in the Marcellus and Statoil bought almost $3.4 billion of assets from CHK in the Marcellus in 2008 but have not heard of Statoil in the Utica play.  

The last few days transactions are showing up in the county recorders office in which leases are being assigned to the Chesapeake Appalachia LLC entity and Statoil USA onshore properties.    This is the first time I have seen Statoil show up.   I know CHK is hurting for dough and has mentioned bringing some more partners/money in.  I also know Statoil just had a phenomenal earnings report.     

I hope this is a good sign and CHK had some good results to show to bring Statoil on board.
