Cobra Resources LLC Raises It's Head in Trumbull County

We recently received an offer from Cobra Resources LLC.  Julie Wessling, Vice Presidnet, Leasing writes:  "Cobra Resources LLC, is an Ohio-based natural gas producer that has been operating in Ohio and Pennsylvania for the past 7 years; thus far drilling over 150 wells in Mercer, Crawford, Erie and Mahoning Counties to include 10 wells in Trumbull County.  We are anticipating further drilling activity in Trumbull County and upon preliminary Geological studies it appears your property may be in a favorable position to be a part of that forthcoming project."  Cobra offers a "Paid-up Oil & Gas lease that includes:  
*Spud bonus of $8,000 per well, paid prior to commencement of drilling.
*5 Year Primary Term.
*Prior Approval of Access Roads,Tank Battery and Well Head.
*12.5% Royalty from Oil and Gas sold from the well.
*400,00 cubic feet (400MCF)  of free gas per well, per year for personal use.
*A payment of $400 within 90 days of signing.
There is no information indicating the type of drilling they have in mind. This offer doesn't match the offer we were granted more than 30 years ago from a local shallow driller.

Tanya, Larry, Hello to All! Sorry to take so long to get back, had a family medical emergency to attend to.

Tanya, i like that, collegium, nice ring to it.

 I will speak to friends in the farm bureau and some other farms i know. Some of the Folks still don't habla Windows and Yahoo/Google so town hall style meetings may be a good idea as well.

Larry, was that your wife who emailed me expressing an interest in doing some of the legwork to gage interest from the public. I'm sorry i accidentally deleted the message from my Iphone, sometimes i am all thumbs.

I personally like the idea of talking to some of the legal proffesionals who negotiated successfull leases for the other groups.

I was kicking around some ideas for a name, lets see--- C.S.I. Clean Energy Unit (Citizens Seeking Independence) or---C.F.C.E. (Citizens For Clean Energy) or--- Buckeyes For Friendly Leases (B.F.F.L.), just spitballin there, Anybody else have any ideas they want to share? Respectfully, Jim

Interesting.  I think our title needs to begin with Trumbull and refer to something that relates to Landowner's Mineral Rights and Advocacy.  The terms related to energy make it sound like a Chesapeake commercial.

I know that gas burns cleaner.  But, water, wind and solar energy are really the only forms of energy I consider clean.

At least you're thinking.  Great start.

You should consider that none of these other forms of energy are truly clean within our current capabilities. have you ever looked both above and below a hydro-electric dam, it is a game-changer as far as native(pre-european) (flora and fauna) life is concerned. Solar and wind(the manufacturing processes are a major polluter).

Yes i am always thinking, sometimes its to a fault, and i find humor in almost all things, i came up with those acronym's late at night watching CSI re-runs.

I would like to hear if Larry Chako has turned up any news lately, if you read this post Larry? Will talk again soon Tanya, Respectfully, Jim

I will have to look into that. Solar electric a polluter?  Hmm.  I thought the cells were silicon based.  Wind energy a polluter?  Damming any tributary changes the ecosystem.  I'm not sure I would call that pollution.  To me, those forms of energy are less intrusive to the environment--at a broader scale--than the production of carbon monoxide and other gases that jeopardize our irreplaceable atmosphere.   I met a Dutchman engineer when I went to OSU who said they were generating electricity using wave action and ocean currents.  That's an ecosystem that is in constant change--naturally.

Do a search for solar "cell pollution china" and you will never think of solar as clean again.  Wind ain't so clean, either.

Right O! We all live in glass houses, so no pebble tossing here. The business at hand is how do we freely exchange ideas and bits of information, dissect and disseminate said information, and work together as a loose knit unit to aquire leases favorable financially speaking and with as little environmental impact as possible when the time comes that they drill and put into production the wells. Funny side bit here, speaking of solar and pollution in the same conversation as my family is sitting here watching a dvd playing SAHARA, no kidding

Cobra's days are numbered and they know that. Small producers are going the way of the Dodo.  Pretty soon Ohio will be just like Texas and everyone in the business will work for Mega Oil, Inc.

Well,I hope so.  However, I hope land owners can hold out long enough to reap the same benefits Texans gain.  My brother almost convinced my mom that $1500 an acre was good.  She's 75 years old and would like to move to Florida.  I empathize with her, but pray she knows better.

$1500 is what n.c. pa lease is at this time , I took it the lease money it is a good thing , but sign with a co. that drills and produces that is when the big bucks arive and mom will be really be a rich bitch. by the way i am 74 myself  and expect to collect a few bucks from this gas rush give mom a brake if she has a few acres spend it, those wells will  pay off for many years and  leave left overs for the kids .
