Did anyone who signed with Antero for $7,000 from the Smith-Goshen Group actually get paid? I think Antero only offered this to pull people away from Rice and ruin their drilling units. If no one actually was paid for this, then it was an empty offer with no intent to drill and my husband questions whether it could be a class-action lawsuit against them for signing people and tying up their land with no intent to pay. To my knowledge, they only offered this to people who were in the Smith-Goshen group and only to people who had over 10 acres.

They were supposed to pay in early April. I have been fighting to get the lien they placed on my property released for the last 5 months and finally received it last week.
We have dealt with Antero and have found them to be very reputable .These companies deal , trade, joint venture and do percentages. I understand that the Rice leases are close to Barnesville, an Antero leasing area.....but I don't think they were interested in leases further west. I know some people they released when Rice started making offers. In our dealing with them they have always returned calls and made sure our questions were answered. the only thing I can say is..... they do take longer in researching the deed and getting people paid ( but this may be impart to all the court house activity, which should be winding down).....maybe this is why the delay in payment. Call them I am sure they will answer your concerns.
Antero also leased land in Bethel Township, Monroe County. Only a few were paid. Letters have been sent requesting that the land be released but the deadline has passed with no reply.
The biggest issue we had was that the rep we signed with straight up lied to our faces about how things would be handled. Then when they decided they didn't want our property they decided they were going to keep a lien on it anyway just in case - to tie us up and we had to fight to get released.
If they didn't need us, they didn't need us - no big deal, but relase us and let us move on. We shouldn't have had to go through what we had to go through to get this resolved.
In your lease you should have a clause that does not allow the filing of the lease at recorders office until you are paid. In our group I believe our attorney held the signed leases and the memorandum copy usually a shorter version without payment amounts that is filed at recorders office. Once we were paid then we were given one of the original signed copies and the lease was filed. Company was given other signed copy.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
