Permalink Reply by craig on September 24, 2013 at 5:38pm It wasn't drilling under the road for another line was it? I ask because there is another leg of gathering lines called "South Beaver gathering line" that they currently are waiting for approval. Maybe this has something to do with it. I do know that this new gathering line is going into South Beaver County, that is why it is called S Beaver gathering line... not in south beaver twp.
Permalink Reply by Larry Livengood on September 25, 2013 at 12:36am This was a rotary rig like a Dillan well drilling rig. There were a number of trucks there. I don't believe this was an under the road bore. That is what was confusing.
Permalink Reply by craig on September 25, 2013 at 5:34am I'd guess it was core drilling. Maybe they have to know what the geology is near the road for future lines going under the road. Don't know what else it could be.
You do know that if you stop and talk 'nice' to workers like this that they are usually friendly and will tell you at least something about what they are doing.... unless they are really busy.
Permalink Reply by Larry Livengood on September 25, 2013 at 7:30am A large rotary rig to find out what is six to ten feet down and taking two days seems extreme. Anything is possible, but that is like getting a shotgun to kill a gnat. Will try to find out.
Permalink Reply by Larry Livengood on September 27, 2013 at 1:48pm Went past the drilling site tonight. There is a length of vertical casing protruding at least two feet out of the ground with two plastic lines jutting out. Looks like a water well setup????
Permalink Reply by mlb on October 2, 2013 at 6:37am I saw that activity also Larry. About 10 trucks, and drilling rig. Now I don't even see the casing and pipes so hard to say. I will stop if I see them back again.
Permalink Reply by Larry Livengood on October 2, 2013 at 8:07am They had a backhoe and skid loader down there last night working after dark. Today there is just a patch of mulch over the area, pipe out of sight. I ask Chesapeake what was going on, they said they would get back to me. (Still waiting on their reply about the gas flow from Burdick to Thompson starting again.)
Will post if I get an answer.

Thanks... is there a way to access a website that shows gathering line approvals for Beaver County?
Do you how far south the "South Beaver gathering line" is planned to go?
Thanks again for all of your highly valued information!
Todd

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
