Katharine Hayhoe of Texas Tech University wrote an interesting article:

I was an Exxon-funded climate scientist

https://theconversation.com/i-was-an-exxon-funded-climate-scientist...

excerpt:

"ExxonMobil’s deliberate attempts to sow doubt on the reality and urgency of climate change and their donations to front groups to disseminate false information about climate change have been public knowledge for a long time, now.

Investigative reports in 2015 revealed that Exxon had its own scientists doing its own climate modeling as far back as the 1970s: science and modeling that was not only accurate, but that was being used to plan for the company’s future. ...

I have a unique perspective – because I was there. From 1995 to 1997, Exxon provided partial financial support for my master’s thesis, which focused on methane chemistry and emissions."

The study that Hayhoe cites concluded that "83% of peer-reviewed papers [by Exxon scientists] and 80% of [Exxon's] internal documents acknowledge that climate change is real and human-caused, yet only 12% of [Exxon's] advertorials do so, with 81% instead expressing doubt. We conclude that ExxonMobil contributed to advancing climate science—by way of its scientists' academic publications—but promoted doubt about it in advertorials."

Big waste of $$$.  Global warming is a natural phenom. It's been going on since the ice age, if not;half of north America would still be under glaciers! just sayin

Well, sure, if you're "just sayin" that climate has been changing for eons, you're correct on that, but natural causes don't explain the ahistorical spike in carbon dioxide and methane levels in recent decades. As the Exxon scientists concluded, recent "climate change is real and human-caused". Evidence from ice cores drawn from Greenland, Antarctica, and tropical mountain glaciers, plus tree rings, ocean sediments, coral reefs, and layers of sedimentary rocks reveals that current warming is occurring roughly ten times faster than the average rate of ice-age-recovery warming. https://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/

We can all be thankful that NASA, Exxon, and thousands of other scientists elsewhere are working hard at understanding climate and global warming. It's money well-spent. Here are graphs and animations showing how greenhouse gases (methane, carbon dioxide, ...) are the dominant factor in the global warming of recent decades, not sunspots, or volcanoes, or the earth's orbit: https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/30615

Mumbo-jumbo. One way to get rich;though. Ask Al Gore

"I was an Exxon-funded climate scientist"

Come on, you were a one-of-a-million grad-student spending someone else's money to write a bogus thesis.

How typical.

More Fake News

First - Carbon Dioxide is not a greenhouse gas.

Next - Oil and Gas activity is not the major source of methane, agriculture is.

Finally, the conclusions that global warming is associated with human activity are based on computer modeling not empirical data. Computers are only as accurate as the data fed into them, crap in crap out.

As usual, your post is pure nonsense, FAKE NEWS.

BTW

There has never been any scientific proof that methane or carbon dioxide is a cause for any climate change.

Next - these folks also leave out little facts that the climate has not been warming for over 20 years. In fact the average temperature is similar to that aroung the beginning of the 20th century (that's 1900 Paul).
