If the lease expired in August of 2016 and you did not receive a payment for renewal, it's safe to say your lease was either not renewed or is possibly extended beyond the primary term by production activity. You should contact Chesapeake Landowner Relations. Look on their website. I would request that they file a release of your lease if they have not done so already. Ask them about it.
Agree with GH... your lease was clearly not renewed. You can and should request that they file a "release" of your previous lease so you can try to market your land on the open market. Not a lot of movement in Harrison county right now, but that will change over the next months and years. When the time is right to lease, you'll want proof that your property is free and clear and ready to go. Good luck.
