Didn't see this posted, thought it was interesting to see that a gas export terminal was approved - well, "conditionally" approved, which doesn't sound like a true approval to me. More like, we'll tentatively approve it until after the election then put the kibosh on it. But this is progress, I guess.

And saying that this will hurt Putin, as the article states, is not entirely accurate. It will take 7-8 yrs to build, plus Europe needs to build LNG import facilities, which, knowing Europe, will take at least 10-12 yrs.
The vast majority of gas will go to Japan, China, and other Asian countries.

Much of the opposition to natural gas exports comes from big industry, who want to maintain low pricing to use it for energy and feedstock.
Big industry is strongly Republican.
hahahaha.

In recent days, House Speaker John Boehner and other congressional Republicans have urged the Obama administration to speed up natural gas exports and send more liquefied natural gas to Eastern Europe and Ukraine in light of its conflict with Russia over Crimea. Ukraine relies heavily on Russian natural gas shipments.
Boehner has called on President Barack Obama to "do everything possible to use American energy to reduce the dependency on Russia for our friends in Europe and around the globe."
