I'm looking for a way to contact Chesapeake directly either a phone number or email. I tried the I-877 number and you are put on hold forever.
I currently have a lease offer thru Mason Dixon for CHK....this morning, i made a counter offer to the lease and the Mason Dixon rep replied no within minutes of my sending the offer so he never even talked CHK about this...just flat out told me no that he wasn't authorized to do that and that I needed to reply to his email that I either accept or decline the lease offer that was made. So I would like to contact Chesapeake myself.....Anyone have a contact- phone number or email?
Thanks!

I went to their website, they have a whole landowner section. From that number they gave me a local # for their corporate landman.
Did you have any luck calling the corporate landman?
Has anyone contacted Chesapeake directly and got a lease that way instead of using a landman from Mason Dixon or DPS Penn? Curious to know how that went and what you thought?
Personally, knowing what I know now, I'd ONLY sign a lease directly with a company over a land group or land man. Just my opinion. We went through a group last summer, only to find we were HBP, but since this has all transpired, and I've seen lots of stories, I think you're best off (if possible!) to go direct. Not sure where you are, or your situation, but I have heard that CHK has cooled off in their leasing, but lots of other players are eager to get acreage.
CHK has their brokers on very short leashes and they have very little, if any flexibility... that is done intentionally. You aren't going to get any more favorable terms by virtue of calling CHK directly. CHK knows, as you should, that if you got anything better than what the field broker is offering that you will tell everybody you know within a matter of 24 hours and then the bar gets raised...this ain't their first rodeo!
If you are correct then why was I offered something higher than what CHK has offered others on this board? How did you get your lease? CHK landmen, land group, or an attorney?
Be extremely careful when dealing with Mason Dixon. In the past they have agreed to lease terms which were then omitted from the copy they presented for signing. When confronted with the omission, they said it was done inadvertently, but they never offered to correct the error as the presented lease terms had been signed. Read your copy line by line before signing and please run it by an experienced O&G attorney for your own protection.
One of the early landmen to contact us had a mason dixon card. When I checked they were leasing for chk. Chk's last offer was very close to what we wound up getting through a land group (offered before they knew we joined the group). The key was the contract. Chk said anything additional we wanted had to be done as an addendum, they would not change the original lease, which would have meant a lot of money to a lawyer. With the landgroup we had the leverage to get the protections we wanted as part of the lease agreement. I also want to say that every dealing we have had with chk was pleasant, every person polite and friendly.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
