According to the Energy Information Administration - Natural Gas will be the number one power energy source in 2016.

"EIA’s Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO) is now forecasting that 2016 will be the first year that natural gas-fired generation exceeds coal generation in the United States on an annual basis. Natural gas generation first surpassed coal generation on a monthly basis in April 2015, and the generation shares for coal and natural gas were nearly identical in 2015, each providing about one-third of all electricity generation."

This trend should continue for the forseeable future. This trend along with that maturation of Mid-Stream infrastructure means the ability to move gas from the Utica and Marcellus regions.Which means prices will begin to rise, which will mean increased drilling in the Utica.

Of course this will not occur overnight but it at least appears to be the light at the end of the tunnel.
