I found out my grandfather has oil, gas, & mineral rights for 54 acres in Salem Township. We filed a Preservation Notice in Monroe county. I'm not sure what the next step is to see if there is any interest in leasing. Do we wait to be contacted or should we initiate contact? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Permalink Reply by Erin N on December 28, 2012 at 2:54am Kurt, try contacting Linda Bartley at 517-899-1764. She works for Western Land Services, who does leasing for Hilcorp. I do not know what type of activity is going on around Salem, but she will be able to tell you if they're interested in your property, and what they are willing to offer. I leased through them and have received my bonus payment, so I can vouch that they uphold their end of the deal.
You can also try http://www.buckeyelandholdings.com/. I cannot vouch for them, but I know that they will negotiate on your behalf and take a cut. I think the idea is that they will get you more per acre on the bonus than you would get if you dealt yourself, and then take their cut.
Best of luck!

Stay away. Educate yourself to the problems with fracing for gas on your property. You can't drink money. Contact a lawyer.

RE: "Contact a lawyer."
Educate yourself, my attorney tells me that fracing is the best thing to happen in America's rust-belt during his lifetime.
Money in the pockets of people who truly need it.
Less dependance upon foreign energy.
Clean Green Natural Gas displacing Coal for electricity generation - removing Sulphur, Mercury and particulate matter from our air and water. Reduction in acid rain.
Clean Green Compressed Natural Gas beginning to displace polluting Gasoline and Diesel as a transportation fuel.
Good jobs for the sons and daughters of the land; no need to leave in order to live.
Resurgance in industry, bringing jobs back from China.
New tax revenues to State, County and Local Governments - taxes that will repair aging infrastructure, help educate our children and assist the elderly and indigent.
Cheap Clean Green Natural Gas, heating and powering our homes, powering our industry, cleaning the air we breathe - and these are only a few of the benefits that keep rolling in.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
