Is there any drilling from Shell in Guernsey County, OH? I live out of state and have no way to find out. Cannot drive past the property. Thanks!

Go to Ohio Dept of Natural Resources Oil an Gas website. The link below should take you to the correct page for Shale Activity page. You can see each week all new permits and the cumulative page lists all Utica wells drilled in Ohio. On the left you can see Marcellus ... not too many in Ohio but some. On the spreadsheet you can see the longitude and latitude of each well and if you put that into google maps you can see exact location of any well. Hope that helps. You can also see if the well is permitted, drilled, producing on the spread sheet.
I just looked through the list of Guernsey County wells and none of them are by Shell. Shell operates in Ohio under SWEPI LP Shell Western E&P Inc They have a permit in Columbiana County that is a year old and has not been drilled. That is the only permit for them I see. There are many other drillers in Guernsey County.
The lastest news is. Shell sold their Ohio leased acreage to AEP. 50,000+ acres.Don't look for Shell to be drilling here.American Energy Partners say they are drillers. Running big ads for leasing in Guernsey co. they also bought Enervest;s 22,000 acres.
One way to keep track of drilling near your land is to use the ODNR Gas and Oil Well Viewer http://www2.dnr.state.oh.us/website/dog/oilgasviewer/index.html. Just zoom in on your area.
Thanks so much for all the good info. I will follow all suggestions.
But if Shell sold, wouldn't I be notified from them about selling, so I can follow the new company?
Just wondering. My township is Londonderry.
When your lease gets sold to another company, they don't have to tell you. And may not. Someone else may just show up to drill someday.Or in AEP.s case they may contact you to re-negotiate the lease. I like the SHELL lease and I'm sticking with it, unless of course they offer more $$$!
If your lease is transferred / sold in part or in total it will be recorded in county recorders office. I am not familiar with Guernsey County recorders office but you should be able to go online and put in name and or parcel number and see any transfers.
Also it was NOT our experience that some just showed up and drilled. I am not saying this could not happen but it was not our experience. We received phone call well before drilling began. Pad is not on our property. We also received documents in the mail stating we were in the drilling unit.
Deleted -- wrong discussion.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
