An add that runs on this site asks the reader to rate Obama; I added the HilLIARy part.

So, has Barak Obama, as President, helped or hindered oil and gas development in the U.S. and helped or hindered a path to energy independence for our country?

Will, if elected President, HilLIARy Clinton help or hinder oil and gas development in the U.S.; and will she promote energy independence for our country?

Please feel free to explain your answers.

Until recently Obama has helped O&G development on private lands because he so has hindered that same development on government-owned lands.  More recently, of course, he is attacking ALL O&G development with massive new, and wholly unnecessary, regulation.

Hillary?  How badly will she be able to harm us from jail?  Seriously, it will take only a Comey resignation and/or an Obama pardon completely to derail her aspirations to become POTUS.  The impending drama surrounding HRC will rival Watergate.

I'm unable to envision any scenario which results in Hillary actually becoming POTUS.  If I'm in error, she will be so impugned and weakened by noon on 20 January 2017 as not to be much of a threat to our O&G concerns.

I realize with Clinton focus has been nearly entirely on her e-mail dilemma, her almost total lack of concern with national security.  I acknowledge the seriousness of that matter.  But her REAL problem is with massive flows of foreign money into the CFF while she was serving as Secretary of State.  These were, in essence, bribes.  An investigation is well underway.  She is, if I may borrow from the Nixon lexicon, simply a crook.

Frank,

Just for clarification for those that don't know what CFF stands - Clinton Crime Family Foundation and Massage Parlor.

The scenario where she becomes President and avoids jail:

Thus far she has been able to draw out the process of the investigation of her ILLEGAL  server.

Her hope/plan is to draw it out past the election. She also hopes that Democrats will retake

the Senate; at that point she and her partners in crime in the Senate will bury the

investigation or stonewall any action in the Senate.

I agree that she is also vulnerable to investigation of the ILLEGAL payments made to the Clinton Crime Family Foundation and Massage Parlor. But as with the investigation of her ILLEGAL use of a private server this too will be buried if she is elected.

Another issue that does not get much attention is the belief that she acted as Bill Clinton's consigliere. As such, she was in charge of and facilitated the cover up of Bill Clinton's sexual abuse of women, as Attorney General and Governor of Arkansas and as President. So I hear.

A bit of research indicates I might have been in error when I mentioned the CFF.  It turns out the Clinton family actually has TWO foundations, with both being in operation simultaneously.  Regarding which of their foundations received the bribe money, I now am uncertain.

I realize it's only a technicality, a distinction without a difference, but I always strive for honesty and full disclosure here.  Bottom line, a Clinton foundation was acting as conduit for foreign money donated in hope of influencing American policy and, quite possibly, a future American POTUS.  This is slimy beyond belief, but it actually happened and is under investigation.

Frank,

Thanks for the full disclosure.

Never see that from our fractivist friends on this site.

There are millions of democrats and republicans capable of a tit for tat argument about who is worse, I am not interested.

Obama was the third and fourth Bush term, Hillary will be the fifth and sixth.

The GOP could have stopped the madness and brought in an outsider to clean things up like the electorate is desperate for but they didn't. They are simply differently as bad as the democrats.

As a matte of pure oil and gas economics you go republican, but I am loyal to the Republic first, even more so as it is sinking.

America's dalliance with political correctness that has manifested itself through Barrack Obama has made America less safe, borderless and lawless. This social experiment will fortunately end January 20th, 2017. For those folks that like the corruption of our government, there are plenty of establishment candidates to chose from, if you want less corruption in the US government, there is but one candidate, Trump. Everyone needs to cast their ballot, otherwise the left wants to make America just like Mexico, and that should be unacceptable to everyone. Have a good day.

RJMB, etal,

I was having a conversation this morning and the subject was Trump vs Cruz; who would be better for oil and gas development. There were varying degrees of opinion.

My thought - that both would have a positive impact. But, that Trump policies may have a more immediate impact because he will be more focused on improving the business environment in the country.

Of course all involved in the discussion agreed that HilLIARy would be a disaster for all fossil fuels.

-Trump sparks worries for US oil and gas industry

And to be honest, I didn't think that Obama was that bad for oil and gas development until this last year or so.  He has recently begun an all-out assault on oil and gas when it is already at its lowest point, whereas before he mostly seemed to stay out of it... didn't hurt it but didn't help it.  It would be nice if he gave oil and gas the credit it deserves for the economic improvements during his presidency that he so frequently touts, however, he conveniently seems to forget about that.  I believe his legacy would be a lot more negative than it already is if not for the economic benefits of the oil and gas boom.

I put the interests of America before any special interest on every policy debate. Every shred of evidence that I have looked at shows that 10-30% of federal spending is lost to waste, fraud or graft, I call these corruption taxes. The US spend $3.8 trillion in 2015 of which between $380 billion - $1.14 trillion was lost to corruption taxes! The ESTABLISHMENT created government dysfunction and benefits from it and therefore will not correct it. Trump scares the hell out of those people in the ESTABLISHMENT that have spend years building the waste, fraud and graft into our government and are not about to let it go that easy. That is why they are spending upwards of $200,000,000 against only Trump, because they cannot control him. That should speak volumes to everyone...

Two things:

I have seen numerous reports that no presidential candidate has received more oil money than Obama.

I believe Obama would pull he plug on any fossil fuel aspect of our energy needs if he could, and he would do it gladly, IF, his entire presidency would have been thoroughly ruined if not for the economic impact of the oil and gas industry. Imagine his economic growth numbers throughout his presidency if not for the oil and gas industry contributions.

As for Trump, he is the single greatest and potentially devastating threat to the power structures of the political parties, the oligarchy and crony capitalists and the media.

Period.

Problem is he is a candidate with some horrendous flaws that may well be the ONLY thing that can keep him from winning.

Rest easy, someone without his flaws is watching and thinking that he can take Trumps message and present it from a more likeable candidate without all of Trumps flaws and baggage.

I enjoyed Trump's rough edges early on.  The establishment desperately needs his brand of shaking up.  But more recently it has become clear Trump is desperately politically inept.  He does really STUPID things, making too many UNFORCED errors.  He actually commits political blunders even I myself would see coming and know enough to avoid.

I still would vote for Trump, because overall his pluses outweigh his negatives.  But I'm not as enthusiastic as once I was.

The Republican nominee had better be either Trump or Cruz.  Otherwise there is gonna be a revolution.  But either of them will get my vote.
