I just noticed road markings painted on the road, with a stake on the road side.

Markings are   an X with a circle around it and   egl #1   under the circle.  There ar 4 of these...numbered 1-4, spaced about every 1000 feet.  I heard mention that these are "well sources".   Could they be indicating location of laterals under the road?  I don't think any UNIT has been declared in the area.
