I try to keep up with the postings on this website because its very informative.  But it is also very wishy washy.  It goes from...if you own property, sit back & wait for the checks to roll in.  Too...gas prices are so low that gas companies & drillers are pulling out of the marcellus.  I tend to believe the latter.  I live in Lawrence Co. very close to the Ohio line.  Ohio seems to be booming because of the Utica.  I feel like where we live is like being the middle of a sandwitch that has no meat in it.  Am I wrong?

IRA ,  I did a Google Search,  Marcellus Shale Ohio  there are a lot of good links there. I found this one while I was over there looking around.    http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/geosurvey/tabid/23014/Default.aspx    Hope this helps.

Sarah, thanx for the map...very interesting.  But I live on the PA side, just over the stateline of Ohio.  Do you know if there is a link for a Pa map?

JRA,  here is one link to PA Info,  http://oilshalegas.com/marcellusshale.html

JRA, here is another link for info on Pa,  http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/topogeo/oilandgas/marcellus_shale.aspx

If you do a Marcellus Shale Pa search you can find many links regarding Marcellus Shale here in PA. If you can find out what Gas Companies are working in your area, you can do a search on them too. It helps to know what they have done in the past and what their plans are in the future, I keep going back to their sites to get updated info as they post it. I have found a tremendous amount of info here on this site too. This site is where I got started on educating myself on the Gas& Oil Industry.  I keep telling everyone I'm taking a crash course in the Marcellus Shale Industry. It takes awhile to soak in all this info, but in the end we'll all be pros. lol

I dont think Lawrence county has enough info in yet to really make a call.  It's right in a "transitional" area.  It could be a situation where both the Marcellus and Utica are viable, or neither are viable... or one of the two may be viable.   It may change in different parts of the county.   It's right where the Marcellus is getting TOO shallow, and it's right where the Utica is becoming just shallow enough.

Best I can say is to keep your fingers crossed.

Thanx Mike,  hence my comment of "feeling like a sandwitch with no meat in it".
You might me a sandwich with double meat though. Only time will tell.
Just got back from the Township Building where my property is located. I got a lot of good up to date info there, on what is going on in the area. Even ran into some of the other neighbors looking for info too. Invited them to join this site too.
are you located in Lawrence Co. Sarah?

No, I'm live in Allegheny County. But the property I own  regarding leasing right now is in Butler County, Middle Lancaster Township.

JRA, I feel the same way.  I'm in Wayne Township, Lawrence County and one minute it seems like there is a ton of activity around me the next there is nothing, depending on who you talk to.  My problem is I do not live on my property, so I seem to get the info later then everyone else.  There was a big push around me last fall, but now nothing.
I know Seth...It's like a Roller Coaster Ride..a VERY bumpy one.
