Split the profits?

Hypothetical/   I'm a farmer,I have 350 acres I have timber. Timber co. comes,gets the logs out,we split the $$$ from sale.  I have oil.gas,condensate. the driller gets it out of the ground, the investors foot the bill,,we split the profits 1/3 each.  what's it take the recover the costs, 3 months?

All production controlled by O & G E & P - not landowner ( as far as we've read / heard ).
All kinds of variables influence production ( or lack thereof ).
Infrastructure / marketing / throttling / etc.
Contract ?
Risk ?

Despite the variables, typical payback period in many of the better oil and gas developments has been one year or less
