Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumors about Stark County. Seems like CHK has everything leased up back in 2010 but haven't heard much since.

Permalink Reply by David Mohn on February 11, 2013 at 12:04pm Well I keep reading the updated maps by ODNR and I can see where eastern Stark County is in this zone but it just seems so quite. I guess CHK has everything leased up so they don't have to worry about it right now. I noticed in all their assets sales, they never completely sold this area. Only a percentage of the lease to Envervest. At least that is what I see on my record at the county recorders office. I know Enervest did soil sampling and have had enviromental engineers out to my farm and they also did all the water sampling within 1500 feet of a proposed well site but that was a year ago. They also surveyed a pad and marked it off. Just was wondering if CHK mis-calculated what was under eastern Stark

I also see that Eastern Stark County is supposed to be in the volatile oil zone but I guess that time will tell. A well was drilled close to me in Paris Twp. last April but has not been fraced yet. Maybe they are waiting on a pipeline?

Permalink Reply by David Mohn on February 11, 2013 at 1:41pm Just east of Louisville. I also know there is an older gas line (put in back in the late 70 or early 80s) right next to where the proposed pad would be. Not sure if this line is still in use or not. I was told it was a large 24 inch or so line but I say for sure. All I know is that when Enervest was out, the marked the entire lenght of this line on the property.

Permalink Reply by David Mohn on February 12, 2013 at 9:22am I think that would be a great idea. I have already leased but I would be willing to help out. I was told by CHK they are not leasing in Stark right now. But it is better to be ahead of the game than to be scambling in the 4th quarter.

Permalink Reply by brat on February 12, 2013 at 10:54am Threw my 1 + Stark acres in with the Bob Rae group last year...got nowhere with it. But then Chk also rejected my 11 acres in Harrison county with the same group...no explaination. Kind of sucks to wait all that time, then be rejected. Oh well.

Permalink Reply by David Mohn on February 12, 2013 at 11:03am Well I know back in 2011 CHK was leasing .5 acres lots in the development next to my farm. I know for a fact because I sent out over 150 letters to my neighbors explaining the lease process and many of them called me. Not sure how many signed but I was told by a landman many of them did. When I looked on the county recorder sight, they did sign but not all of them. My guess CHK will be back later this year but that is only my opinion. I have no fact to prove that so maybe it is just wishful thinking. But hold on, if your land is close to a drilling pad, I am sure they will be knocking on your door.

| AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] | Links |
