Joyce,

        It was said of PA by the Range Resources CEO that he paid for the Marcellus Shale and got a "tripple play". What he meant was that he paid for the Marcellus Shale by giving a small bonus and royalty, then got the Utica Shale and Devonian Shales which is actually 2 more shale plays. That's a little more than a tripple play.

Once you know what is under your land you will have a better idea what it is worth. Maybe someone on this site knows the geology in your area.

Watch out for a landman saying he is with Range Resources, Chesapeake Energy etc. and the DPS Penn folks. They are all middle men that will sell your lease to the Driller and take your portion of the bonus and royalty.

Most of us recommend that you take any lease sent or carried to your home, to a lawyer and have him explain why you shouldn't sign it. 

You can put a topic in the seach area at the top of the page then read all the responses to that topic, such as "Lease Bonuses In PA". I have seen a table of PA lease bonuses and royalties being paid but haven't seen it lately.
