There was already a lease on our farm land when we bought it, apprently signed in the 1980's to a small family-owned oil and gas company. Now the company is considering sub-leasing the land to Chesapeake, who's starting seismic testing in our fields this week. Unfortunately, the way the lease is set up we don't have much say in what the drillers do on our land. The only thing I'm really nervous about is that the drillers can pull unlimited water from our aquifers for fracking since the lease don't have an addendum saying otherwise.
Is anyone else in a similar position? I know there's alot of negative stuff floatin around out there about how fracking affects water, and I just want to know if there's a real risk to my water supply or not. Any help is much appreciated.
