Just saw that the old Darlington Brick property has/is being demolished. I was told (not confirmed by a second source) that this property is going to have the railroad spur revamped and be some type of pipe facility for the gas/oil industry in the future. Interesting times, still!

I wonder if Markwest is involved? They supposedly bought the Ytown Southern RR row some time ago and I believe this spur into Darlington is part of this. Interesting indeed!
I was thinking about Markwest as a possible owner, but just spent 45 mins scouring the county website and find that the Darlington Brick Co property at the old plant has been sold twice in the last 6 years with the final owner being Salvage Darlington. There is a right of way agreement from 2013 with MarkWest Midstream + Resources on this property. Of course there could be a new puchase/lease that isn't recorded yet or even closed for this property. Who knows?
I also found that the railroad has a permanent easement for a switch, a siding and enough room to offload cargo on the property.
I know enough folks in this area that I suspect I can find out what the real story is.... will work on it.
Well, I haven't drove past it, but I did talk to the company that did the demolishing. I believe they are done and not sure what all they took down. He said they left a large cement slab there for future use. I'll have to ask him more info next time I see him.
