I am not talking about a gathering line........ A segment of what i understand to be a MarkWest pipeline from the Butler area to Vanport must be getting close to moving dirt. For the last 2 weeks or so there has been a surveying crew working diligently off of Old Blackhawk road. Today, in the snow storm, a surveying crew was there. This segment crosses over Blackhawk road, at an unknown location, then continues to follow Old Blackhawk on the west side behind the houses to cross over Old Blackhawk just South of the entrance to Grange Road. From there it heads S across McCloy Rd, then turns SE to cross Lisbon and Tusca roads somewhere. I understand this segment is about ready to go with the other N and S segments having a few problems along the way.

Lets get some pipe in the ground and get gas/liquids moving!!!

I suspect there must be problems with the proposed markwest route through my property here in New Beaver,Lawrence County. It's supposed to come out of Big Beaver Boro , thru my neighbor's farm (he straddles the county line) and continue in an Easterly direction , going under Rt.376. I was told it is to go under the Beaver River south of Wampum. From there I do not know. The landman told me this was one of three possible routes but ours looked to be the most likely. That was a few months ago and he hasn't been returning my calls or E-mails. I was told by him that this was a Vanport to Butler line. I figure the communications disconnect with him doesn't bode well for us here in this neck of the woods. Sad though that he will not reply. From what I have heard , Markwest is a good company and I really did not expect this from them or their reps.

Does anyone out there have any info on this route and what may have changed?

I do notice a light green stake left standing near the road after the DAS seismic work was completed. They were out and about at the same time as the pipeline deal was being signed , so maybe these green stakes are from Markwest......I assumed they were placed by the seismic crew but maybe not as they (DAS) removed the other stakes and flagging when they were finished.

Does anyone know what type of survey markers Markwest is using?

Hopefully more opportunities will arise !

Markwest uses Blue flagging to mark outside boundries of ROW and Orange flagging for pipeline route.I also understand that Markwest is routing a NGL line from Mt. Gathering station in Evans City,Bulter County to Houston Pa plant using the same ROW as the ethanol line from Vanport to Houston. So this line could be the other end.

I've had one neighbor tell me that the line I'm talking about would have 2 lines as well. Must be the same line as we were told it was going from Butler to Vanport as well.

I would guess that the line to Butler county is associated with 2012 news that ....MarkWest Energy Partners to buy Keystone Midstream Services for $512M

Lennie, how sure are you that the Mariner ROW will include 2 lines?
I haven't any info in my area that there is anything more than one line being paid for.

Sounds correct as to at least 2 lines.  I had some direct negotiating with markwest for this line to go through my place.  Ultimately, they chose another route which was fine by me as I didn't want the 100ft ROW cutting through my place.  But as I was told, one line was for sure and 2 likely but the plan was for 4 lines total but 2 would be put in initially.

Otherwise, I hear still some solid rumors of a gathering line to go from maga to rolling acres and then west.  Not sure when that will start though.  I keep reading/hearing chesapeake is broke so every project I hear of seems to get backed up a year or more with them including a pad on my place, they moved the time for it like 3 times, now late 2013 maybe.

All lines are good for the area.  My wife is from Wheeling and when we go down there to visit it is like a different world compared to here.  Activity here is like a snails pace while down there where the companies ( not chesapeake ) have cash its booming with lines, plants, drilling everywhere, makeshift RV parks for workers etc.  Be nice to see our area get something going but it does take cash.

We are most likely just going to take longer but the markwest project is good at least.

mike yes they are only paiding for one line so they can get started on the ROW.Once they get moving in the right direction there will be three additional lines before they closeup all TAR'S & TWS'S.I don't see them closing any area's up until 2014. They need to get the product from the wells to the refinery in Houston this is there main route for this area. The ROW can hold seven lines. Can anybody find out how many bores have been approved by the DER for under the river ?  This will confirm how many lines are in the ROW. I can't get on there site.

Update : Five Borings have been approved for under the Ohio River.

Nice info on the borings under the Ohio, thanks Lennie.

I had a chat with 'a little bird' on the way to work this morning. The 'rumor' is that this line in to Vanport has a few sections that are not figured out yet (I already knew of one), while a few are. From what I see, I suspect there will be a few folks involved in deciding if the current staked route  will suit the engineers and the myriad of regulations, etc.  Then you will see the final route staked out and then dirt will be moved. How quick this happens probably depends on how bad the gas co's need to start moving their product. I bet it is a year before we see them dig and hope I'm wrong. Did I read somewhere a few months ago that they had already started laying this line up in the Butler area? Anyone else have any info?
