We have obtained our mineral rights recently for over 100 acres in southern Jefferson county no companies are interested in leasing. Should I be worried ?

Hey Martin,
I wouldn't worry yet. I have 263 acres in Southern Jefferson and although have little interest now am still confident of a good lease. Some factors are chesapeakes situation, low nat gas price, little transportation infrastructure, and just a smattering of data from drilled wells. Chesa has permitted a well just north of us, so maybe it will shed some light on jeff co as a whole. Unfortunately they are the major lease holders in our area. I know hess oil has a little ground leased close to me but they like everyone else are not interested right now. My gut tells me these are going to be very good wells in this area so we'll have to be patient. I think regardless of what is said we are still very early in this. Hope this helps a little.

Martin: my brothers own 100 acres right below Wal-Mart distribution center around Alikana (off 22) and recently leased thru Chesapeake.
Good luck!
We are further south than that. We very close to the Belmont Co border. May I ask how much his signing bonus was and when he signed?
Signing bonus was approx. $5,000/acre, 17% royalties. He signed 80 days ago w/bonus due at 90 days - due 8/28/12. I have acres in Ross Township and signed in 10/2011. Unit in place in Jefferson County; several wells being fracked now. I'm assuming our unit in Ross will be the next one to show what's down there...! DeNoon well is coming in at a close second.
Does anyone know of a pad being built above Buckeye Local High School?
Martin: evidently our land must be pretty close. I am in Warren townhship sections 28 and 29.
We may be very close, has global approched you about seismic testing? We really don't want to until we have a lease.
Martin,
Yes they did a couple of months ago. They wanted to do 50 acres so I signed to let them do it. Talked with them a few days ago and they said it was going to be about three months before they got to Jeff Co. They are starting just west of Holloway and coming east. The reason I signed was that I figured they weren't going to all that trouble if they didn't have some interest from someone or someones to purchase the results. Also with all the talk of the wet gas being further west I want them to find out because I'm sure it's wet. Also I'm approx 7 miles south and 2 miles west of the zimnox well.
Hey Martin,
Wondered if you had ever leased your ground in Jeff Co yet
No we haven't leased yet but there is a company that is leasing the Smith-Goshen group that may be interested if there was a drilling unit that could be put together. Not sure how much available land there is but may try and look into it.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
