Chesapeake buying out Chief leases?

I had two different people tell me today that they heard Chesapeake was buying out all or most Chief leases in Sullivan County.  Has anyone else heard anything?

I am curious what part of Sullivan County......specifically what Twp was Chesapeake buying the Chief leases?

I am curious as well. I had an offer from Chesapeake 6 months ago and never heard back from them. Last week I got an offer from chief that was much better and they want me to sign now.

Vickie, I think chief refers to it as "Right of First Refusal". If at any time within the primary term of the lease or any continuation thereof, Lessor recieves any bona fide offer, acceptable to Lessor, to grant an additional lease (top lease) covering all or part of the afor described lands, Lessee shall have the continueing option, by meeting any such offer, to aquire such top lease. Any offer must be in writing.

David, have you been leased for long? Wouldn't you think Chesapeake would be trying to sign up land to fill out their units, rather than buy them from Chief.

Ok, so who has heard of Merritt Oil & Gas? Our rights are in Anthony Township, Lycoming County. Merritt has offered to purchase an "undivided 1/2 interest or any portion thereof that you would like to sell".

Merritt has made an offer to purchase a one half interest in my 84 ac Anthony Twp, Lyco Co. land.
