Does Chesapeake have any wells in TIoga Co? I can't find any evidence of any (but maybe I'm not looking in the right places?) I've been looking at the leases they've signed recently, and they seem pretty random. Either they have a lot of property previously leased, or they are just collecting the leases with the intent of swapping with East. Does anyone know if Chesapeake intends to become a presence in Tioga Co?

The new production numbers show 5 at the end of 2010.  (See the DEP's or my PDF.)
Ah; thank you! I see that they also have permits for more horizontals at the Kohler site (Liberty) and Broughton (Morris). Not a major player in Tioga Co., compared to East, or Talisman, or Seneca or Ultra; I still wonder why they have gathered a few leases in East territory.

Lynn, wasn't Chesapeake that purchased all that land from the state out by Gaines area? Or was that East? It was a recent newspaper article..

Ultra is doing almost all the drilling in the Gaines area.
Chesapeake has over 250 Oil and Gas leases on landex ..
So do you think they are going to pull out of here or do both? I heard a lot of the Seismic testers already headed west.
I don't think it means they are going to pull out of this area.  Haven't checked, but think Chesapeake is active in Bradford and maybe Lycoming?  They are a big company with lots of "irons in the fire"; they're also active in WV.  But there are going to be times when they'll switch their concentration from one area to another.
Chesapeake is active in Liberty and very busy in Susquahanna Co..they have done lots of leases recently in Morris Twp. and Liberty twp.
Robin; do you know how much bonus and royalty they are offering?
I could try and find out for you..I have friends that live in that area and several are leased with Chesapeake..But my bottom dollar bet is they are extensions. Let me check for ya.
I just read a couple home owners groups who have Chesapeake and are staying United in what each neighbor gets..Seems to be 2,500 pr. acre but the Royalties pay out is 25%..I'd say that from all my reading this last yr..the more property you have the better off you are to negociate a higher price for bonus payout and Royalties.. I know in Bradford Co. many companies are paying out $4,000 pr. acre..I don't know the Royalties pay outs though..Its a nice low end, high end to work with..Access for Seismic testing is important, access for pipes is important, possiblities for wells is important too , in the things the company considers important to them.
