multiple horizontal wells
an image from StatOilHydro's website. They are a large Norweigan multinational that signed a deal with Chesapeake Energy (the US' largest gas producer) to co-develop the Marcellus Shale. In this image, they show 6 horizontal wells being drilled from 1 well pad, with 4 well pads in a small area. Each of the white fracture disks is created by injecting millions of gallons of water, sand, and toxic chemicals under very intense pressure to fracture open the shale. Only with this can they release the gas locked

I am advised by knowledgeable people in the O&G field that fracking fluids do not contain toxic chemicals. One must be careful with potentially slanderous comments.
