"Natural gas is approximately 80-99% methane, with the remainder being mostly other hydrocarbons (ethane, propane, butane, etc.) as well as some nitrogen, oxygen, water, CO2, sulfur and various contaminants" some of these smell bad when burned off.. ;-)
and they don't need to be.. is the point... they can be recycled.. or Chemically treated onsite...
I can promise you , you will not like to smell Sulphur burning... even in little quantities...

Nancy,, it's not just methane and any driller will tell you that.. so stop it..

Again, Jean talking nonsense. They are burning methane (Surprise!!!), the same stuff that heats 90% of homes and is in your gas stove. Methane is an odorless gas. In fact, they add odor to some methane used in homes so you actually know if there is a gas leak in your stove.

The burnoff doesnt smell Jean. I wish you would just go away so people don't actually listen to a word you say. Everything you say is just garbage.

Tack this one on to the other completely dumb comments you have made. This one may top them all though.

depends on what comes up.. but have you ever asked what is being burned off? or where is goes? or if it's raining , does the burnoff come back to earth? much like the Sulfur from Coal..
just a thought...

Hmmm... I've been to see 4 wells being flared, a couple up real close, and haven't smelled anything; did I miss something??
