AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |

Hi Melissa-
I am researching for my PhD now, and in so doing, I commit to confidentiality of people's names in interviews (from where I heard this info). I would keep your name confidential too if we were to have an offline interview.
However, this individual holding a corporate position said although Talisman was going to focus more on 'wet' or oil producing resources this coming year, they 'were not leaving' shale gas. (Most of the companies are doing this if you look around.) Just think of the investment the company has made. And, once gas prices increase one can expect an increase in shale gas production again.
I have some ideas that maybe would help you receive clarity on your investment - if they do not, I would like to know.
1. Call Talisman USA headquarters in Cranberry, PA and ask them with whom to speak
2. Find the Talisman Stakeholder Advisor for Bradford County and ask him or her to get an answer for you or point you in the right direction.
3. And, read this corporate 2012 forecast. In part it reads "In the Marcellus, in light of current gas prices, we will reduce activity from 11 rigs at year-end to between five and seven rigs in 2012. Talisman achieved record production of approximately 485 mmcf/d in the fourth quarter of 2011. Even with five rigs, we expect to be able to hold 2012 production in the play to about 500 mmcf/d. Spending in the Marcellus is expected to be upwards of $600 million, with significant investment in infrastructure in new parts of the play." If I am out-of-line, let me know. And, I would be curious if you pursue any of the above if it helps or that you have already been down that road. - Deb
Melissa - I spoke with Talisman recently. They will stay in Bradford County. - Deb
