Vic Furman does a fictitious “Dear Abby” column asking for advice on how to save Upstate New York from a corrupt, tyrannical governor bent on destroying it.

Dear Abby,

I live in Upstate New York. It is the highest taxed state in the country with respect to combined state and federal taxes. It is such a beautiful and scenic state and therein lies the problem, or at least part of it. You see, although New York City has grown in population, Upstate New York has lost hundreds of thousands of thousands of residents due to high taxes and cost of living that flow from the fact the Big Apple dominates the state.

Some city folks will shrug their shoulders and say “Well, if you can’t afford it, then move or sell what you have before you lose it.” They’re only to happy to pick our land for a song as a playground. Governor Cuomo’s answer, of course, is raising taxes on those who stay in New York to make up for those who left. It seems nobody really gives a damn about Upstate New York.
