No one ever accused Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secreatary Mike Kancer of being a cuddly fuzz-ball, but he’s hardly someone you’d expect a Senior Attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), where they spend nearly $100 million annually fighting everybody, to run away from, either. Yet, the mere compilation by Krancer, of a set of compelling facts disputing an NRDC report, caused NRDC’s Kate Sindling, normally a firebrand given to all sorts of fightin’ words, to run home claiming that big bad Mike’s “tone and tenor” were so disturbing, she didn’t want discuss anything because that would mean she’d have to do “a point by point rebuttal.” She even accused him of being “malicious” for writing a letter, laying out his positions, in advance of their planned joint appearance on a panel. Wow! If that’s all it takes to make them go away…

Well, of course, they’re not really going away – they never go away. They’re just retreating to compile written rejoinders from the safety of their Manhattan offices where they’re surrounded by like-thinking folks who will protect poor Kate from having to endure an actual debate with the man responsible for all the horrid things her organization has accused DEP of doing. NRDC likes it better when they can throw snowballs from behind. They especially like making the snowballs and getting others to throw them. They throw lots of stuff around that way, in fact, even apples. Remember the Alar!
