Of course not, but it just seemed odd to me, if it was people who lived there, spelling it that way.  Perhaps the people commenting aren't from there. Guess I just expect people to know how to spell their hometown.

Does it really make a difference? It could be spelled Pittsberg or Pittsbirg too.  Our language is difficult at best.  Thier, ....they're ...... there are many different ways to spell a word, wird, wurd, werd.....  Not everyone has the education to understand which is the acceptable way to spell a given word.
