I keep hearing rumors about oil being found in Western Bradford County, Eastern Tioga County and in Eastern Steuben County, New York. Has anyone heard or know of oil being found?
What kind of oil is it?
Thank you for your replies

This area sits upon the Trenton Black River. It is where the oil en got their start, or so I've been told. Rockefellers? Anyway google it and you can find out about it.
There is a well in Tioga County listed as gas and oil per PA DEP site permit. Of course western PA is full of surface type oil wells.
Which well are you talking about.
also heard of oil in Keating,Clinton co. anyone able to add anything.
http://www.dep.state.pa.us/dep/deputate/minres/oilgas/RIG09.htm

go to Permits Issued by Month by County by Well Type - 2009

YTD and look at oil/gas combined.
I went on the site again, and all the wells around me are listed as oil and gas. Is that possible or is it just the way they list it. I live in the Marshlands in Tioga County. There are a ton of wells being dug around me. Ultra is the one doing all the drilling here.
Thanks . I'll check it out
I checked it out , but it didn't give me the name or cation. Just Tioga county
also is oil in Luzerne County .....old well by Lake Silkworth ...also old gas well a mile or so away
Hello Alex,

Can you provide more details about wells near Lake Silkworth? We are north of you, saw those wells on DEP eFacts.

Thanks,
Joel
I believe there is a study done by the state , indicating that trenton wells completed with the right tchniques will make oil.  I think  in eastern stuben county.   I have studied oil windows in several states.
