I was approached last October to lease 6.8 acres in the Hartville area.  I haven't heard of anyone else in that area that has signed a lease.  I realize that if I don't and they decide to drill I would loose out on any $$$ without a lease.  What is the best route for me to take to insure there is no damange done to my property, well, and yet still benefit from the available monies?

Connie, You might consider leasing with "no surface rights" to the lessee. This would not allow them to drill, or place pipelines etc. on your property. You still should receive a signing bonus and potential royalties, but with no surface operations on your property. However, you may not receive quite as much of a signing bonus for such a lease agreement.

Thank you for that tidbit. I will certainly keep it in mind.
