Belmont County - Experience with Coal Company Partners and old Mines

In Belmont County, many tracts are adjacent to coal company land. Some tracts have been deep mined in the past while others have been strip mined.

Two questions. 1). Has anyone heard what the coal companies are doing, i.e. are they willing to partner with adjacent land owners to form groups or are they going it alone? 2). It would seem risky drilling through old underground mines given the current process for encasing the well. Obviously gaining access through unmined tracts or from adjacent tracts would be the logical alternative. Anyone with experience with land containing old underground mines?

I know the two coal companies that boarder my land signed with Marquette Exploration, They are Capstone Holding  and Ohio River Coll. They have leased all their land to them, from what I've been told. There really is no problem according to them about the mining, it is just waiting for Murry to get out( Marquette). That is why everything south of I70 has been in a holding pattering because they can not do anything until he is done longwall mining. Which, is not for 4 -6 yrs from the maps I have seen. I have a major gas line that boarders one end of my property and they can't wait to get started there because the do not have to lay any pipe and my ponds will be able to sustain the fracking.
