I've heard from multiple people that there are problems at the Milton site? Anyone hear anything?

The rig is back.  The top of the rig is tipped to the NW.  Does that mean they are drilling towards the SE?

There is yet another rig set up on the pad this past weekend. It appears to be the same rig as was there the last few times. I understand this to be a rig used to drill out the frack plugs. If true then they will be flaring the newly opened section soon.

It's opened now they were flaring it this afternoon.

Brett,

Did they remove the pump jack from the Vertical Hole before setting up this Drill Rig?

Pump jack was still in positions when I saw the rig onsite. Word is, that chk will have the well  in production within the next month.

16 months from spud to production is pretty slow.  Hopefully they'll have better luck with the next one they do around here.  We could sure use landowners cashing big royalty checks.

IMO , it was deliberate........why show your cards until all the acreage are leased?

I'd have to disagree - with the money CHK has sunk, they need to recover what they can as soon as possible.  There are enough safeguards to keeping information confidential for a while (well, as long as they don't have a press release!).  If there is a way to monetize, trust me any company would hook up their wells as fast as possible.

One thing to remember is even though CHK has a fair amount of information, the OH Utica is still very much in its infancy.  There are a lot of things to learn, and geology can always bite you.  It'll be at least a few years til operators have their design mostly figured out.  Til then, expect some bumps, delays, poor performers, etc.

Hope that helps some.

Cheers!

Dead on.  Couldn't have said it better.

What industry do you guys work in and for?

I'm a geologist for an operator around here.

You a correct that the Geatches well is permitted "Ohio Buckeye Energy" however, it is a JV between CHK and Buckeye Energy. Also, look at the natural gas prices v oil; there's no doubt these companies don't want to deal with municipalities that are problematic however, the cost to recover the resources in the ground is not profitable at this time especially compared to what they stand to gain in the oil/wet gas areas of the Utica hence, the shift from Pa. to Ohio.
