Today Carrizo Oil & Gas announced that it is entering the Utica Shale Play by way of a Joint Venture with Avista Capital Partners. There are 15,000 acres involved and Carrizo is paying $1,500 per  acre for ONLY 10% interest. You do the math. What would the value per acre be for 100% interest?

Craig, I've seen those comments myself and always assumed that a problem developed while drilling and that they had to move the rig and set new casing. But, I'm a landowner and for a good technical answer, we'll have to wait for an industry expert to clarify the term.

I'm no industry expert but word on the street is that one hole collapsed in the radius where they were turning horizontal and another collapased with the drill stem and bit in it.  The third one is supposedly selling gas now.

Does anyone know about the Marcellus wells in Monroe County? I heard today that one Portege just completed has 5900 psi gas, and came in unexpectedly wet. A rig was pulled from Noble county and sent to the Sardis area to start drilling more. Can anyone confirm??

The Marcellus comes in wet in Washington county,PA, so it's not crazy to think that the condensate window extends into parts of Ohio that have been previously undrilled. Protege had to expect that, otherwise drilling an expensive gas well in this economic climate would have been a bit foolish.

Hurrah!!!!!!   Bring on the rigs!  Lets drill some more!!!!

Based on the most recent permit list it seems that they're doing just that. Hopefully Protege can prove good Marcellus production and add another layer to this play.
