It sounds like the Shell rep you worked with was forth-coming and considerate. I wish I could say the same about our landman. Am I right in assuming you didn't consult a lawyer before signing? Perhaps I am not as smart as some, but I don't understand a lot of the language of this lease and I would never sign without consulting a lawyer first. Congratulations and I hope your wife lets you drive the new camaro once in a while.

Permalink Reply by bo boboski on May 9, 2012 at 1:46am Drew, over here in Ohio. Shell came in & leased close to 100,000 acres. gave us all Bank drafts with a 120 "banking days' exp.date. Last OCT! Recorded all the leases immediately. ,the drafts have expired ,and most have not been paid!. but Shell says they will still be paying, but they are way behind. some are now getting certified checks. they are paying, only slowly. Their land servioce keeps calling people every couple weeks saying,be patient. Just giving you guys a heads up about what could happen
Permalink Reply by Lance Nimmo on May 9, 2012 at 3:53am I hhave called down Warrendale numerous times. Noone ever calls back. I was told last week my 90th banking day (which is what the draft was) was May 8th. Obviously that has come and gone. I just wish HilCorp was in my area, they are so much better to deal with.
Permalink Reply by Oliver Perry on May 9, 2012 at 5:39am Lance, I have heard of people getting good info by calling the Shell Community Hotline at 877-842-7308. I think it is for Butler & Lawrence counties. Also here is another contact that may produce results:

Permalink Reply by Elaine on May 11, 2012 at 9:36am You must deposit the draft with a financial institution. They are all familiar with these drafts. They hold the draft until Shell funds it.This happens after Shell has completed its due diligence. A check is then sent directly to your financial institution by Shell's bank in Houston.
Permalink Reply by Faith Johnson on May 11, 2012 at 10:56am Elaine is right but alot of peoples drafts are expiring and they send em back and your bank account gets charged $30.00 for a returned check fee and then you wait again for the money, some people get paid and some wait, who knows!!

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
