There is a new well rig going up in Harrison county at the corner of Fair Rd and Scott Hill Rd.
They just finished laying the gravel May 16th.

Not sure.Possibly Moorefield Twp.
I have compared this location to the many maps that have been published and it appears this location is trying to straddle the wet gas/dry gas boundary. Could this placement be an attempt to determine how far east the wet gas really extends?? Thoughts anybody?
On April 30th at 4:26 PM, on the comment wall below, page 4, I posted info on the Ryser Well, Operator is Gulfport Energy, strat permit, API Well Number is 34067210710000, permit was issued 4-4-2012. If this is the well pad you are referring to, it is in Moorefield Twp. If so, it is solidly in the wet gas area according to the last published maps. Gulfport's Wagner well in Athens Twp is much closer to the wet/dry line.
I'll try to do a drive by both sites this week, and post any new info I come accross.

If you are asking if you would be included in the drilling unit for that well, I would guess probably not. You would probably have been notified by Gulfport that you are in the drilling unit. Are you leased with Gulfport now? If not, Gulfport would have had to acquire your lease from whoever you are leased to before including you in their unit. The size of the unit could vary from less than 200 acres (just enough to cover the gas actually being drained by the first well on the pad) to over 1200 acres (large enough to encompass all 6-8 wells that will eventually fan out from that drill pad. The way to definitively answer your question though is to look at the drilling plat map that was filed with the permit by Gulfport. It will clearly show which properties are included in the drilling unit for the Ryser well. This is public information filed at the ODNR Mineral Division. As Randy posted above, the API number for that well is 34067210710000. I just looked it up in their online database and they haven't posted the permit and map there yet. They should have it in their office though, so if you don't want to wait until they get around to posting it online you call them and they can get you a copy.
I drove by the Ryser well pad today. They were working on the site, and it looks pretty close to finished. So far there is no paperwok posted and no guard shack. There is a no trespass sign, and the pad is at the intersection of the two dirt twp. roads mentioned. Maybe the drilling rig will move from the boy scout well to the Ryser well.

I saw a permit for Vertical Well called Ryser Ryser. 8200 feet. Trenton/Black River. ST well. This is permitted by Gulfport Energy. They also have a second permit for same reason, Depth 8400 and Trenton/Black River called BK Stephens. In Moorefield Twp, Harrison. No google picture yet.
Robert, Dan, Jeanette, I talked with the state today and got the drawing for the BK Stephens well. What Gulfport is doing: they have applied for a strat. permit (same as a vertical well) on both the Ryser and BK Stephens wells. Therefore the drilling unit is for only 40 acres where the drill pad sits. They will drill down into the Trenton/Black River formation (about8,300 ft) and take core samples. Based upon the geology they will then apply for the permit to drill a lateral leg into the Point Pleasant portion of the Utica. At that point they will have to designate the properties in the drilling unit, and the size of the unit. They will then plug back to the desired level and the rig will drill the lateral. My guess is that we won't know the drilling units on these two wells untill late summer, or early fall.

Thanks for the information Randy.
Anyone know what is going in off US 22 west of the intersection of US 22 and 519 on the left right past the the new tractor sales place and before you get to the old Cravat office where the train engine and cabboose is at? Heavy equipment setting in the weeds off the side of the road tonight.
I talked to someone nearby there today. They had heard a rumor that someone is going to go under 22 with a pipeline, going South to North. My first guess was that maybe CHK or Hess was going to start a well pad nearby. AT let us know when they start digging.

AboutWhat makes this site so great? Well, I think it's the fact that, quite frankly, we all have a lot at stake in this thing they call shale. But beyond that, this site is made up of individuals who have worked hard for that little yard we call home. Or, that farm on which blood, sweat and tears have fallen. [ Read More ] |
