Thanks for the suggestion but we (at least three neighbors impacted) have already contacted CHK directly (local office supervisor handling our area), and also got commitment of our State Rep to solicit them on our behalf. This has had no impact other than a verbal commitment to make the dirt mound around the pad a bit higher. I know what properties are involved in the leased unit and there's plenty of room for relocation, and really have a hard time believing that CHK can't push this operation back another 800' or so from a geology standpoint at least.

The local office supervisor likely does not have much autonomy with regards to pad location, it is "easier" for him/her to supply a little pabulum (such as increasing the berm) than to “bother” a remote boss. Increasing the height of the berm is likely the extent of his/her authority.

 

Try to bump it up a level.

 

You would perhaps be better served to get in touch with someone technically involved and perhaps more personally sympathetic.

 

I would suggest trying to get in contact with the Exploration Manager responsible for your area (this may be someone located as far away as Oklahoma City). The Exploration Manager should be an individual who understands the technical reasons for the current pad location (and understands their flexibility in being able to shift it).

If you cannot succeed in contacting the Exploration Manager, you might try the Chief Geophysicist, Chief Geologist or Operations Manager.

Frankly, with your concerns, if you did not succeed with an individual with one of the above titles, I would be tempted to sequentially go through the list (hoping to obtain a sympathetic audience).

Thanks for the additional positions and guidance that we can use to pursue discussions. As I hope I've explained in previous posts, we're not on some mission to shut down the operation, just trying to minimize the impact.

As you have witnessed, when you bring up any negative aspect of drilling you are quickly attacked and called an enviro-nazi and other names by a FEW on this site.  The negatives of oil and gas development are as real, numerous and as important as the positives but the negatives seemed to be shoved under the rug here and are not understood well by some (go figure on a site called Go Marcellus Shale).  Anyway, thank you to you, Jeff and Zack for your excellent and relevant comments. 

It takes public outcry and 10 earthquakes in 9 months  to stop frac water from being injected into a fault (Youngstown, Oh). It takes citizens and industrial users complaining for months about their city water to get millions of gallons of frac water stopped from being dumped into their water supply everyday (Pittsburgh,Pa.).  It takes tap water that ignites like charcoal lighter fluid and a movie  to get casing upgrades. (Dimock, Pa. and many other places). Those enviro-nazi's; they just make trouble for the industry.

 Keep dreaming...Why are they not taking as much frac water there now. Because they caused the Monongahala River to exceed drinking water and other water quality standards which is against the law and had to stop and use a more expensive disposal method. Why did this happen. People complained. This caused PA DEP to limit amount allowed to river from Marcellus wells. 

What went down the disposal well in Youngstown. Frac water from Pa. from Marcellus wells. People complained about earthquakes. Anti's of course causing problems for industry again.

Everyone should know that methane came from gas wells in Dimock. Pa DEP knows that. Thanks to Josh Fox that was corrected.  I guess he's an anti. More problems for industry.

Ji, just stop. There is no need to go over your bs yet again. If there are some new topics, go ahead. What purpose does it serve to restart that discussion? You have your views of those situations and we have ours. Nothing will change that.

Ji completely discredits himself with this earlier post. He is so outrageous that the assertions are nothing but comedy. Lay it out there and then cry foul when someone calls it what it is- nonsense. We all lose our patience very quickly, why wouldn't you?

Just heard on the news that there have been several escapees from the Warren State Hospital.

Two individuals (lovingly referred to as “Jerky Ivan” and “Compressor Bill”) did not make bed check and are feared to be on the loose.

They were last seen using the library’s internet connection.

It is suspected that they might be headed East along Route 59 as Ivan has spent the past week mumbling something about needing to get to Dimmock so that he could warn the people there not to drink the water.

These individuals should not be considered dangerous, except to themselves – as they have been known to dart out into traffic.

If you suspect that you have seen them, do not approach – contact authorities.
